LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan has demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) of the immediate implementation of the Elections Amendment Act 2024.
He said the parliamentary supremacy is the basic principle of democracy.
The delay in the implementation of the Elections Act 2024 which is against the will of the people, he added.
The ECP must respect the legislation of the Parliament, the speaker added.
“Immediate implementation of the Elections Act is essential for the integrity of the democratic system,” he said, adding that
it is everyone’s responsibility to uphold the sanctity of Parliament.
Further delay in the implementation of the Elections Amendment Act 2024 is unacceptable, the speaker concluded.
