ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Army troops have been called to the capital and handed over security duties under Article 245 of the Constitution, following orders from the Ministry of Interior.

The development came after the growing protests by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in Islamabad.
Sources pointed out that the deployment process has been completed as the army personnel could be seen stationed across the capital and adjacent areas.
Their role includes patrolling key locations to protect citizens and safeguard public property, particularly for the peaceful conduct of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit.
In some cases, the PTI protestors have clashed with police, prompting authorities to take additional steps to control the situation.
Meanwhile, army units from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) have been dispatched to support security operations in Islamabad and surrounding areas, as tensions rise in the capital amid ongoing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests.
