LAHORE: In the meeting of the special committee of the Punjab Assembly, the chairman of the committee sought an explanation from the departments within a week on the lease of 960 kanals of land of the Gymkhana Club for Rs417 per month.

Samiullah Khan says that he will not tolerate anyone’s pressure on the Jamkhana issue and will take it to its logical end.
In the reports submitted to the special committee in the Punjab Assembly on the issue of gymkhana leases, it was revealed that the gymkhana covering 960 kanals of the government is providing only 5 thousand rupees annually.
The committee was told that the issue of the Gymkhana Club was raised many times but it was suppressed due to political influence, the income of the Lahore gymkhana, established on very valuable government land, is billions of rupees, but fifty paise per canal is deposited in the government account.
Chairman Standing Committee Samiullah Khan said that Secretary Colony, Secretary Housing and DC have been bound to appear in the next meeting along with all relevant records and Secretary Law to prepare answers to all constitutional aspects and questions of members on the issue of leasing of Gymkhana Club.
