LAHORE: Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Syed Ali Haider Gelani has ordered an indiscriminate audit of the pending audit paragraphs of the Rs20 billion in all departments.
It was held in the Punjab Assembly. In the meeting, the audit paragraphs of the Department of Higher Education and Youth Affairs and Sports were considered. Director General Audit Punjab Nadeem Amjad informed the committee that audit paras of Rs 20 billion are pending.
Geelani ordered to audit all institutions without discrimination. The committee recommended to ensure the best facilities of the gym in all the districts of Punjab. Chairman Syed Ali Haider Gilani said that the sports field is a platform that can connect the entire country, so no negligence will be tolerated regarding the sports facilities. Before appearing, he also strictly directed all the departments to resolve the pending matters with audit and finance so that the time of the Public Accounts Committee is not wasted.
The Chairman sought an explanation from the Additional Chief Secretary on the slowness in the implementation of the previous directives. Chairman Syed Ali Haider Geelani issued instructions to the secretaries of all departments to ensure their participation in the upcoming meetings of the committee. The committee directed the finance department to strictly audit all the departments that refused to audit. The committee also ordered an inquiry to the secretary on the disappearance of gym equipment in Rajanpur. The committee ordered the department to write a letter to the Federal Ministry of Interior on the issue of collection of land rent of the Sports Board. The committee ordered that the list of all such departments whose audit paragraphs are pending should be presented in the next meeting. Anjum, Director General Audit Commercial Muhammad Usman Butt, Secretary Sports Punjab Muzaffar Khan Syal and DG Sports Punjab Parvez Iqbal participated.[:]
