LAHORE: Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan has written a letter to the Election commission and asking to implement the political affiliation of independent candidates
under the Amendment Act. allowed the independent candidates to join any political party, the text stated that these candidates had joined the political party after the general elections of 2024 and the decision of the Supreme Court allowed these candidates to join any political party again.
The Amendment Act 2024 was approved while the President also signed the Election Act on August 7. The letter stated that after joining a political party, the candidates can no longer change their political affiliation and the Election Commission will have to implement the Election Amendment Act. It is not possible to implement the law and it is necessary to implement the laws made by the Election Commission.[:]
